MOOSE JAW MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES MAJOR PARTNERSHIP WITH GOAL TEC
Sept. 20, 2019 - Today, the Moose Jaw Minor Hockey Association announced a major development partnership with Goal Tec for the 2019-20 season.
“We are very excited about Goal Tec coming into Moose Jaw to build and develop more goalies,” President of Moose Jaw Minor Hockey Patrick Boyle said. “David Reekie and his team at Goal Tec come highly regarded as some of the best in the province and we are excited to work with them as we continue to shift more of our focus to development.”
Over the course of the season, Moose Jaw Minor Hockey goalies will be offered 12 goaltender development sessions for the beginners and 13 for the intermediate to advanced. These sessions will be in the morning at 7-8 a.m.
David Reekie from Goal Tec has a long and established career as a goaltender having played in the AAA Midget League, WHL, USHL and CIS with the Saskatchewan Huskies. David played his WHL career with the Kamloops Blazers, Everett Silvertips but mainly for the Regina Pats.
"Goaltending is our job but most importantly it is our passion. Hockey has taught myself and my ALL GOALIE Instructor team much more then just stopping pucks and what is needed to be successful on the blue ice. The life skills, life lessons and friendships developed through playing minor hockey correlate directly to our lives outside the rink,” said Reekie.
He went on to add that “We at Goal Tec Regina focus on making each goaltender the best goalie they can and want to be. We don't put goalies into a mold, we have them mold the direction of our teaching to maximize everyone’s strengths and potential. Our philosophy is "get comfortable with being uncomfortable". Our modern approach to the game focuses on efficiencies and playing big. We can't wait to start what we hope to be a long-standing relationship with MJMH going forward."
The goaltender development sessions will begin once the season gets underway and team selection is done. There will be an online form to submit and it is open to all goaltenders and prospective goaltenders who are registered with MJMHA
