Hope everyone has had a good summer. We are a few weeks away from the start of our Tier Evaluations. This is just to touch base and let everyone know what to expect this year.
Saskatchewan Hockey Association (SHA) will be doing our evaluations this year. As most of you have seen on the Moose Jaw Minor Hockey Website, SHA will be doing time trials for the Atom, Pee-Wee and Bantam groups, followed by Scrimmages and of course the Black and White game. Midget will just be doing scrimmages and a Black and White game.
Upon completion of the evaluations coaches will sit down with the SHA evaluators. SHA will provide the top 6 forwards, 4 defence and 1 goalie. These are locked players who will make the team. SHA will then pool together a compact list of players who will be eligible to be picked by the head coach. The head coach will be able to pick 3 forwards, 2 defence and 1 goalie. This will be for Pee-Wee, Bantam and Midget.
For Atom this year we will be adding another team to the Hockey Regina League. We have shortened our roster size for Atom this year. Teams will have a minimum 8 forwards, 5 defence and 2 goalies. As of right now we know these Atom teams will be divided equally. How we are going to divide these teams has not been decided yet, nor has how many picks each head coach will receive.
