Gerald Noble Memorial Coach of the Year 2018

The 2017-18 recipient of the Gerald Noble Memorial Coach of the Year is Stephane Gauvin

What makes a good coach? There is a wide variety of answers to this question but to get a little more personal as to what makes Stephane Gauvin a good coach, the girls he coached had this to say:

Always positive and brings out the best, turns mistakes into teachable moments, pumps up the team, motivates us to do our best, helps us through tough games. If the score is down his positive attitude is up, he is very observant during games and his speeches are passionate about the game and our play, he always pushes us to do our best and he can crack some pretty good Dad jokes.

These are reality quotes from each of the girls who have been coached by Stephane. It wasn't about winning the league title or a provincial title or even winning a game, its always been about developing and guiding each individual to do their best and perform their best. Stephane has a passion for the game, he has skills off and on the ice and no matter the outcome this a guy has a smile on his face no matter what.

Andrea Sandbeck (manager of the bantams) comments: I have had the pleasure of managing for Stephane since the very first year of Novice when he worked so hard to make sure that we had enough female players to make a small but mighty team. Our girls have benefited from his early dedication to female hockey. He along with various others coaches have created an atmosphere that ALL coaches and teams should strive to achieve for the young players that are learning the game of hockey. Throughout our league and while attending tournaments..fans, officials and opposing coaches take notice of how well our girls are coached and often comment on it. It fills us all with a sense of pride when others compliment our team but we all know how lucky our players are to benefit from the knowledge and leadership that Stephane brings to our team. We are all very happy that Stephane is receiving this well deserved award.
